Helping Norwalk Students Take Their Next Step

Every student deserves the opportunity to imagine a future, and the support to work toward it.

The Norwalk Education Foundation supports programs that help Norwalk Public Schools students prepare for life after high school. Through SAT preparation, college essay mentoring, and partnerships with local educators and higher education institutions, we help students build confidence and make informed decisions about what comes next.

Preparation. Guidance. Possibility.

Planning for the future can feel overwhelming. Preparing for an entrance exam, finding the right words for a college essay, or understanding the options after graduation can be easier with someone to guide the way.

NEF brings community resources and educational partners together to expand access to that support and complement the work of school counselors and educators.

Our Work

SAT Preparation

NEF has supported SAT preparation opportunities to help students become more familiar with the exam and strengthen their test taking skills. These programs provide focused preparation as students work toward their college goals.

College Essay Mentoring

Every student has a story worth telling.

Launched in 2015, NEF’s College Essay Mentor program brought together trained educators and community volunteers to help high school seniors develop their college application essays. Through individual guidance and feedback, students received support in shaping their ideas, refining their writing, and expressing their experiences in their own voices.

College & Career Partnerships

Preparing students for their next step is a community effort.

NEF has collaborated with CT State Norwalk and Norwalk Public Schools’ school counseling and workforce development teams to support postsecondary planning programs.

In spring 2026, NPS announced a three workshop College & University series provided by CT State Norwalk and sponsored by NEF. Designed for juniors considering two or four-year colleges, the series connected students with additional guidance as they prepared for the college planning process.

These partnerships support our broader commitment to helping students understand their options and plan for life beyond high school.
