Teachers Guide to Technology

"Excellent instructors, very patient and helpful to everyone."

This is a 10-week/20 hour computer applications survey class designed especially for teachers who are just beginning to use computer technology. You will learn how to use Windows, the Internet, email, FrontPage web design, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and a digital camera.

Introduction to SmartBoards

"This was one of the very very best workshops I have attended ."

What is a SmartBoard? It is an interactive whiteboard that is connected to a computer and a data projector. Once the computer image is projected onto the board, the Smartboard can be used as the computer. COme to this workshop and see how it works and how it is being used in a classroom setting.

SmartBoards - Beyond the Intro

 

For those who have attended the Intro to Smartboards workshop. This will take you farther into the functionality of the device, with more attention on lesson planning and a chance for hands-on. Bring a lesson plan that can be adapted for use with the SmartBoard.

Intro to Word

In this workshop you will learn how to Navigate Microsoft Office Word and its basic features. You will create and modify documents, format text and paragraphs, and add tables to a document. You will also learn how to add graphics to a document.

Once the document is created, you will proof it and make appropriate changes. Then you will complete a page’s setup and appearance

Word - the Next Step

This workshop will help you take Word to the next level. Learn how to manage lists, customize tables and charts. You will be able to customize formatting your documents and develop a professional appearance to your documents. We will cover modifying pictures in your documents and create customized graphics.

We will also cover tables, columns, headers and footers, how to print envelopes and labels and utilize the language feature.

Intro to Microsoft Publisher

Microsoft Publisher is a great tool for creating brochures, cards, flyers, newsletters and much more., In this workshop you will learn how to create a Publisher document and modify and adjust the publication’s layout and structure. You will learn how to Insert text, pictures, shapes, and clip art into Publisher documents. We will also demonstrate how to edit the existing content and utilize the Publisher wizard.

Come and learn how to conduct Internet research using multiple search engines and basic and advanced search techniques. This class offers tips and techniques that you and your students can use to make your research tasks easier and more effective.

Using Elementary Novell Applications

Software installed on all elementary computers includes GraphClub, Timeliner, MapMaker, Type to Learn and Kidspiration. THis series will provide instruction on using all of them. It will also cover the use of the RMSchool server and the school network. Make the most of what's on your network!

I've Got this Digital Camera - Now What? - A Digital Imaging Primer

In this 3-part workshop, you will use digital cameras to take photos, upload them to the computer, and learn to use the Picasa2 photo software to manage, edit and enhance your photos. From there you will learn how to use images in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and email. This class covers all the digital basics as well as photo/file management techniques. If you’re the least bit confused by digital technology, this workshop is for you.
